Soooo its about that time

Holiday cards time! I am excited to design and pick out our Christmas card this year. For so many reasons of course, but most of all because this year we have a new member of the family! It will be nice to include a baby instead of just our furbabies. I mean they are cute and photograph well, however not everyone can appreciate how important pets can be to a family, and how they were our children before we had Bman and now we feel like we have three babies. I am anxious to show off our new family, but the only problem is, how will I decide? So many designs to choose from.

We can keep it traditional and stick with some great Christmas cards or we can stay more basic and politically correct and just send greeting cards to cover all of our recipients. One thing is for sure, we will be definitely sticking with the photo cards. In case you haven't noticed, I keep sending you to the Shutterfly site. I had photo cards made last year for the holidays and they came out GREAT! The quality was great. Definitely not flimsy whatsoever so I had no qualms about mailing them out and having them arrive in good condition. Not to mention, they have a style and size to fit any family's style. I mean what better way to show off our family!

I could stay and write about Shutterfly and their products all day, but basically, you just need to go there and check it out yourself. I am on my way there now to design our Christmas card. I am actually going to get them out early enough for the recipients to get them BEFORE Christmas this year!

Newborn pictures and announcements

We had newborn pictures done. Seriously I love them all and have a hard time picking sooo I am purchasing the CD with the copyright release so I can make my own announcements. I am also pretty sure I'll use a picture or two for our Christmas cards. YES I AM ALREADY THINKING AHEAD TO CHRISTMAS! Seriously its almost Halloween people, its not that early!

Last year we did a card from Shutterfly. They came out great and we plan on doing the same thing! So many choices. See what you can make by going here! Cain't wait to see their new designs for the season!

Smiles!!!

They melt my heart! Started right around 5 weeks! Here is my photographic evidence:

One month old!

Yeah, yeah, since I was a huge blog slacker, you're getting the quick update version. Sorry, but then again, you are spared mundane details this way. Well we made it through a month! We have had some formula struggles, but we finally got one that luckily, is covered under my insurance. He was diagnosed with GERD and a milk protein allergy. We are working on getting the gassiness under control. Here are some pictures!

So, ummm I had a baby.

I am such a slacker! It's been 8 weeks since I had a baby and I have not shared with you! But I can explain. It was not my scheduled c section that brought our B man to us. I was talked into shoe shopping by Mr. W and it turned into chaos from there.

Walking around famous footwear, at 38w 2d pregnant, exactly one week before I was scheduled to have my son, my water broke. First I reached for something and thought that I peed my pants. I thought to myself, sure, I've heard of this happening. Then I had a flash that maybe my water had broke. Nah, I probably just peed myself. So I walked over to Rob and felt another little gush. Sat down, felt another. Told him, ummmmm I may or may not have peed my pants and my water may or may not have broken. He told me to go to the bathroom and check things out. So, I stood up. Another gush. Went to the bathroom, peed as I had a very full bladder. I think I wiped 50 times to make sure I was completely dry. Stood up, another gush. I was wet again. Hmmmmmm. So, I walked out and told him, complete the purchases, I'll meet you in the car. I'm going to call my friend who had her water break out of nowhere. She told me, duuuuuh your water broke! OMG. OMFG.

So, we drove home, and I called my MW who was thankfully on call. She told me to go into L&D, they will test me to see if in fact, it was what we thought it was. Well, I got home, changed, packed some last minute things. Start brushing my teeth and Mr. W had a fit. Umm hello we had a big italian feast complete with garlic bread for dinner, who wants to have garlic bread when I might be having a baby!? So, we get to the hospital about 9:30pm. To complete the time line, my water broke at approximately 7:30pm.

Turns out, my friend was working and took me on as a patient. So, I pee again, she gets me into bed and hooked up onto the monitors and swabs me to test and see if my water had broke. In the mean time, she checks me and I am 4 cm dilated. I was also having some contractions however did not really feel them. Then the test comes back that my water broke. Now, here is where it gets interesting. My MW had told me that they don't like to perform c sections until it has been ideally 8 hours since my last meal. It had been 2 hours. So, we thought we may have to wait until almost 3am. Then someone comes back in and tells us we're getting ready and having my baby in 30 minutes. UMM WHAT!? I thought she was joking. Ummmm nope. The anesthesiologist and OB on call agreed to get it done now. So, after being prepped, insisting on walking myself to the OR complete with a catheter (wtf was I thinking!?), and hopping up on the table, I prepared for the spinal. Now at this point, my body had started to shake a bit. Nerves combined with fast flowing IV fluids that were not warm, add in a cold OR, cue body shakes. So, I was gripping my friend's shoulders while they did the spinal and did my best not to jump or move. It did not feel great, but it was done. Unfortunately though, the shakes got worse. If I did not hold onto the table or Mr. W's hand, I was violently shaking.

I will spare you every single detail, however, the c section was performed without any issues. As soon as I heard my son cry for the first time, I lost it. I cried tears of joy. I cried some more when we finally saw him all cleaned up and in Mr. W's arms. He was 6lb 10oz of pure perfection. I was instantly in love. Here are some of our first family pictures:

A happy family of 3!!! Here are some more pictures of our newly born son, Brady Easton:

My hospital stay was not so bueno. Seriously most of the nurses sucked, and I hardly got sleep. Long story short, I got almost zero breastfeeding help. I ended up quitting after a week. My poor son was not getting the hang of it, he was too hungry, and my milk didn't really fully come in. He was down to 6lb 1oz when we left the hospital and 6lb 4oz at his one week appointment. I would have been instructed to supplement had we not already switched the day before. I also developed an infection from my c section incision so that was a rough week and a half. On top of that, we had some jaundice issues that luckily came under control quickly. We also had to take him for an x-ray of his head. The pedi thought it was oddly shaped and was concerned that his sutures fused in utero which would have meant surgery on my son's head at 1 year of age. Thankfully the x-ray, although traumatizing for B, was normal.

38 weeks!

Grew again, but this time I'm not so shocked :)
And we'll do a survey I guess. I missed last week but there wasn't much to report or different so you didn't miss anything...

*How far along?: 38 weeks!

*Total weight gain: About 23lbs

*How big is baby?: As of last Thursday he is estimated to be about 7lb, 3oz.  Over 19 1/2 inches long from head to foot, about as long as a Leek.

*Sleep?: Up ever 1-2 hours to pee. I. Am. Exhausted.

*How are you feeling physically?: Starting to reach that uncomfortable in almost any way I sit stage. Laying down feels better but that doesn't work all the time. Almost there!

*How are you feeling emotionally?: Not too bitchy, but still haven't found my patience.

*Best moment this week?: Finding out how big he is, pre-registering for his big arrival next week!

*Movement?: He is still very much a mover and a shaker!

*Food cravings?: Not really craving anything, just ready to be eating what I want, when I want it, without having to worry about pricking my finger.

*Food aversions?: None!

*Labor signs?: Having some uncomfortable BH that kind of seem like practice contractions, and of course lovely lightening crotch. I swear he's going to be born holding a hot fire poker.

*What I miss: I would really love an adult beverage!

*What I'm looking forward to: Sept. 6th. Or sooner if he wants :)

Nursery Sneak Peek!!

Just two pictures.... for now :)

36 weeks!!

I'm officially 9 months pregnant!! WOW I can't believe its here already! We have 3 weeks or less until we meet our little boy. I could not be more excited!!

Oh these work bathroom pics crack me up but seriously it is better lighting than my living room :) Hmmmm did I drip??

Not much to add this week other than we are thisclose to finishing the nursery, and I promise as soon as its done, pictures will be taken and posted! For now, you're stuck with a boring survey:

*How far along?: 36 weeks!

*Total weight gain: +.2lbs which is an official total of 20lbs.

*How big is baby?: About the size of a crenshaw melon. About 19 inches long from head to foot, and nearing about 6lbs.

*Sleep?: Up ever 1-2 hours to pee. I have to admit this is getting exhausting.

*How are you feeling physically?: Starting to reach that uncomfortable in almost any way I sit stage. Laying down feels better but that doesn't work all the time. Almost there!

*How are you feeling emotionally?: I'm a bit moody. More like zero patience or tolerance.

*Best moment this week?: After a productive week, I spent the weekend doing nothing and it was glorious!

*Movement?: He is still very much a mover and a shaker!

*Food cravings?: Yes, all the sweets I cannot have. :( Although I did buy those new Magnum ice cream bars to sample and ohmahgosh they are heavenly!!!! Caramel sandwiched between chocolate AND ice cream!? Yep, I was in heaven.

*Food aversions?: None!

*Labor signs?: 1cm dilated as my 35 week check. Having more BH and lots of sharp pains and twinges yet nothing lasting long or in any pattern. I definitely lost my MP. No contractions during the NST this week.

*What I miss: Eating whatever I want, not planning every meal and snack

*What I'm looking forward to: Another week to fly by!

::GULP::

1cm dilated, having contractions (although I don't know about them), and now, just today, I lose a good chunk of my MP!? Huh, this little man certainly wants to make it interesting. I think he knows his daddy  was out of town today, and will be out of town this weekend.

Now I know this could all mean nothing at all. Or it could be strong indicators of something. I'm willing to bet though, that B-man is just keeping me on my toes and he'll take his sweet time coming out to meet us.

Happy 35/35 to me!!!

However, its more like 35/30 or less. Holy crap!!! So not much new to report, however I will be able to add more and update after I see my MW tomorrow. In the mean time,  we have been very productive around here working on the nursery (no pics yet) and getting all the toys put together. Pack and play is set up, bouncer, swing, and stroller put together and car seat not installed, but read to go. Still have to get some essentials. Now for a pic and survey:

UPDATE: Saw MW today. Had some contractions on the monitor and 1cm dilated! She said its a "very favorable cervix for 35 weeks." EEEK! Anywho, he is still breech, confirmed today so nothing new there.

*How far along?: 35 weeks!

*Total weight gain: Gained .2 lbs. I think I'm just around 20 lbs total

*How big is baby?: About the size of a honeydew? I thought that was at 33 weeks. Oh well, and  about 19 inches long from head to foot, and according to the last growth scan is weighing in at 5lb 2oz.

*Sleep?: Up ever 2 hours to pee. Having more insomnia lately because I don't think I can manage to shut my brain off at night.

*How are you feeling physically?: Hip and back pain here and there. Sometimes if I overdo it I feel like I got kicked in the vag. Overall though, I'm shocked at how good I am still feeling.

*How are you feeling emotionally?: I'm a bit moody. More like zero patience or tolerance.

*Best moment this week?: Getting all of our goodies and getting them put together!

*Movement?: He is still very much a mover and a shaker!

*Food cravings?: Yes, all the sweets I cannot have. :(

*Food aversions?: None!

*Labor signs?: 1cm dilated and had some contractions during my NST!! I have felt some sharp twinges but just thought it was Mr. Bman moving weirdly.

*What I miss: Eating whatever I want, not planning every meal and snack

*What I'm looking forward to: Results from Thursday's growth scan :)

B is for Brady, Baby Shower, and....

Breech. I guess it could also be for behind since I'm a little late on making this post. However, the fact remains, this little man is still breech and holding tight there. I had an appointment on Monday which confirmed that, and my MW doesn't seem too hopeful that he will turn. Oh well, I'm really ok with it and have definitely come to plan for a c-section at this point. I think if anything, I'll be shocked if he does turn. Nonetheless I'm still seeing the chiropractor if for nothing else to keep this body in check.

Over the weekend was my baby shower and it was a blast! We had about 45 people there, it was a warm, yet not overwhelmingly hot day, and since we served alcoholic beverages, everyone had a wonderful time! We got a lot of stuff, however still have to purchase our large items. Car seat, extra base, pack and play, stroller, crib sheets, bottles, pacifiers, changing table covers, etc. We got a lot of clothes, in a variety of sizes so that was great. We also asked for books that were personalized for Brady instead of cards so we could build a library and have keepsakes from family and friends that are in our lives. We definitely made out well! And now for the pic and survey! Excuse the condition as it is at the end of my baby shower, when I was back home, sweaty and my hair up.

*How far along?: 34 weeks!

*Total weight gain: Gained back about a pound. Not too shabby since I think he had a growth spurt.

*How big is baby?: About the size of a cantelope, about 18 inches long from head to foot, and should be weighing about 4.75 lbs.

*Best moment this week?: Getting a surprise scan on Monday to check his position.

*Movement?: He is still very much a mover and a shaker!

*Food cravings?: Yes, all the sweets I cannot have. :(

*Food aversions?: None!

*Labor signs?: If what I was having was BH before, I don't even think those are around anymore. I do think I'm losing very slight parts of my mucous plug.

*What I miss: Eating whatever I want, not planning every meal and snack

*What I'm looking forward to: Another growth scan on Thursday :)

33 weeks!

And still looking good! We got the results today from our growth ultrasound and Brady bug is measuring 4lbs and 5oz! He is in the 50th percentile! Just a few oz. smaller than normal according to our MW. Fluid looks a little low, but on the normal side. They will keep an eye on that, and I have an order to schedule another ultrasound for the end of next week.

While I was there, she listened to the heart beat with the doppler. The heart rate was a little low for what it has been so far this pg so I had an NST for some extra monitoring. It turned out ok but man was I having a small panic attack when the heart rate would go up and down. I think she is going to stay on the cautious side though because she wanted to see me next week instead of in 2 weeks.

She gave me some chiropractor recs since he is still breech. I am going to research the technique they use, the Webster technique. I know it involves hip rotations and in the past I've had issues with my hip rotation and being crooked so I'm not opposed to this type of intervention. I am however, opposed to a version. At least at this time. I just don't see how putting myself through some pain and possible stressing out the little one is worth it for a 50% success rate. Even if it is successful, he could still turn as well. More can be read about both of those here.

Oh and I lost about a pound and a half! Woohoo!! Now for the pic and survey!

*How far along?: 33 weeks!

*Total weight gain: Lost 1.5 lbs since the last appointment. Total weight gain is 18.5 lbs.

*How big is baby?: About the size of a honeydew, over 17 inches long from head to foot, and thanks to the u/s is weighing in at 4lbs 5oz. I think he is having another growth spurt but we will find out for sure at the next u/s at the end of next week!

*Sleep?: Up ever 2 hours to pee. Don't feel too rested these days.

*How are you feeling physically?: Still getting some hip pain here and there, but overall pretty good.

*How are you feeling emotionally?: Today was a little scary. His heart rate was a little low and they did some extra monitoring but overall a great appointment!

*Best moment this week?: Hearing how big he is!

*Movement?: He is still very much a mover and a shaker! Just this morning I woke up with his head up in my ribs and rubbed his little head until he moved.

*Food cravings?: Yes, all the sweets I cannot have. :(

*Food aversions?: None!

*Labor signs?: None besides BH.

*What I miss: Eating whatever I want, not planning every meal and snack

*What I'm looking forward to: my shower is this Saturday!!! Woohoo!!!

What a week. A rough week.

I am now 32 weeks and wish I could say that all is great, but unfortunately, it could be better. First things first, as of right now Brady still appears to be 100% healthy and that is the MOST important part of all of this. I will do whatever I have to or go through whatever they throw at me, as long as that is the outcome. On Monday, I was officially diagnosed with gestational diabetes (GD). I cried. I cried a lot. My poor MW probably didn't know what to do. In a way, I just had a feeling, but at the same time it was a a blow. There was another blow to take that appointment too. Some may shrug and say so what or who cares? Some will get it and sympathize. I gained 9 lbs. IN A MONTH. Are you freaking kidding me? Ugh first that, then the GD diagnosis. Not the best way to feel great about yourself. Soooo what does this new diagnosis mean?

1) I am now slapped with the label of a high risk pregnancy.

2) Frequent monitoring in the form of u/s right now. First one is tomorrow, the 18th. I am looking forward to this as we get to see our little Brady Bug and see how big he is!

3) I will now not go past 39 weeks, perhaps a few days, but no way will we see my beloved due date of 9/10/11. No fun birthday for you little boy! Silly, I know, but it was fun to hope :)

4) GD will (hopefully) be controlled by a strict diet, by checking my blood glucose levels 4 times daily. Fasting, and after each meal. If it cannot be controlled with diet and I need to start taking insulin, I can no longer stay under the care of my MW. Ummm cue more tears.

So where is the good news? Well, first, I will say that it could be worse. It could be A LOT worse. My BP is great, I'm measuring on track so far, urine is looking good, and like I said before, all signs point to a healthy baby which is all we ask for. She does think he turned back to head down, and we shall confirm that on Monday.

On Thursday, I will see a specialist, who will counsel me in using the monitor and diet changes. I hate to say it but I think I'm way ahead of her! I started a food log the very next day after finding out my diagnosis. I researched online, talked to some of my ladies from my mom's board, and used the booklet from my MW. I ordered my testing supplies and received that Wednesday so took my first reading, after dinner. It was right on track. Since then I've been checking my blood 4 times a day, and all numbers look great so far. This is great! I know it gets harder to control your numbers the later you get into pregnancy and the bigger the baby gets, but so far, so good.

And now to the picture and survey....
*How far along?: 32 weeks!

*Total weight gain: 20 lbs so far, however with the GD diet, my MW seems to think I will not gain much more. ::Fingers crossed::

*How big is baby?: About the size of a jicama, over 16.7 inches long from head to foot, and approximately 3.75lbs. Apparently getting ready for a growth spurt!

*Sleep?: Still wake up every 2-3 hours to pee. I find though that it is quite painful if I happen to sleep more than that.

*How are you feeling physically?: Last couple of days I feel like I just did a workout of squats and lunges. My hips, butt, and back are sore, but that just means I move a little slower these days. Someone told me I have an adorable waddle going. Ummm no, waddling is not adorable! LOL I'm in denial ;)

*How are you feeling emotionally?: The week started out ROUGH. Lots of tears and guilt and feeling sorry for myself. I feel like I am in better spirits now that I'm rocking these numbers! Oh, and a brief moment of sadness yesterday when I discovered my first NEW pg-related stretch marks. ::sigh::

*Best moment this week?: Figuring out that I can do this. All of it. Whatever is thrown at me.

*Movement?: He is still very much a mover and a shaker!

*Food cravings?: Yes, all the sweets I cannot have. :(

*Food aversions?: None!

*Labor signs?: None besides BH.

*What I miss: Eating whatever I want, not planning every meal and snack

*What I'm looking forward to: Ultrasound on Monday, finding out if he is still head down and get to see how big he is and maybe even some more 3D pics of his face!

31 weeks!

Not too much to say, other than I'm definitely growing each week!

*How far along?: 31 weeks!

*Total weight gain: 11-12 lbs so far, but will find out on Monday how much more.

*How big is baby?: About the size of 4 navel oranges, over 16 inches long from head to foot, and approximately 3.3lbs. Apparently getting ready for a growth spurt!

*Sleep?: No change here. There is no more sleeping through the night, but luckily I usually fall back asleep after a short potty break

*How are you feeling physically?: Overall pretty good. Wake up here and there with back and hip pain, but its not constant, nor everyday. For now.

*How are you feeling emotionally?: I think my frown is turning upside down :)

*Best moment this week?: Spending my first week off being lazy!

*Movement?: We have a wiggle worm. Hopefully he wiggles his way back to head down.

*Food cravings?: Ice cream and lots of it!

*Food aversions?: Still staying away from orange juice, but all other foods/drinks are a go!

*Labor signs?: No labor signs, however I think BH have started. Completely non-painful, and I don't pay attention to how long it lasts. Not sure, could still be the way the baby moves.

*What I miss: It is the summer. I miss the summer cocktails.

*What I'm looking forward to: Appointment on Monday, finding out if he is still head down or not. I also will find out if I passed or failed the 3hr GTT and I guess I am only looking forward to that if I passed ;)

Wow. 30 weeks!

Seriously y'all this if flying by! I cannot believe I have 2.5 months left. I am so anxious to meet this precious baby boy but at the same time, holy moly the time is almost going too fast! All in all, things are going well though and I have very little to complain about. I am actually doing ok with the whole "uncomfortable in the summer" thing everyone has warned me about. I know I'm only going to get bigger and we still have a chunk of hot weather left, but so far, so good.

So here is my 30 week picture and survey!

*Total weight gain: 11-12 lbs, not counting my last appointment since it was a different scale, different place

*Food cravings?: Ice cream and lots of it!

*Food aversions?: Still staying away from orange juice, but all other foods/drinks are a go!

Oh hello there THIRD TRIMESTER!!!

Holy hell is this really here!? I am so flippin excited to meet this baby boy I cannot stand it! He has certainly made things interesting so far. Wednesday I had my gall bladder out. It went extremely well, and Brady did soooo good! The surgeon said that it was really inflamed and is glad we took it out, it needed to get out of there. Here is a crappy phone pic of me 2 days later. I do not have any stitches, its just purple glue. I am interested to see how I heal, however concerned that they will be extra big and ugly as I grow bigger and bigger. Oh well!
So, there it is. I go back to the surgeon a week from today and in the mean time have to stick to a low fat diet. Not bad, I can handle that. It is very nice to not have to dread meal time and have a constant stomach ache!

Now, onto the exciting stuff. Here is my last belly pic in the 2nd tri. I was being silly since it was surgery day, and had a non-maternity tank top on so excuse the bare belly!
26 weeks, 5 days

And, now onto the survey:

*How far along?: 27 weeks!

*Total weight gain: 10 lbs total as of my last appointment, lost 1 lb with the gallbladder issues

*How big is baby?: About the size of head of cauliflower, about a 14.5 inches long from head to foot, and approximately 2lbs

*Sleep?: Wake up roughly 3 times a night to pee. Sleeping on my side only now which is not the best, but at least I'm sleeping.

*How are you feeling physically?: No more heartburn, and now, no more gallbladder issues!

*How are you feeling emotionally?: I was kind of depressed for the last week being in limbo with surgery, but today I feel great, I am in a fabulous mood and ready for these next 3 months!

*Best moment this week?: Feeling this sweet boy kicking after surgery and hearing his hb yesterday nice and strong

*Movement?: Yes, increasing all of the time.

*Food cravings?: Well this is on hold due to my diet. Still want me some strawberry cheesecake ice cream with rainbow sprinkles that can only be found at the ice cream place on the corner

*Food aversions?: Don't love the sound of chicken, but can eat it here and there.

*Labor signs?: Nope

*What I miss: PIZZA!!!! Hopefully in the next couple of weeks I can have some again!

*What I'm looking forward to: Hopefully passing my GDD test and getting that out of the way, last 4 week check up on Monday then I go to 2 weeks!
